Pretty wildflowers in the Blackland Prairie at White Rock Lake from the Spring of 2020. Hand drawn and painted by the artist. 11 oz ceramic mug, dishwasher and microwave safe.
I have always loved the wildflowers at the end of my street by the lake and have often painted them en plein air. This year during the Pandemic with so much free time, I decided to document every flower species from March until July in our native Blackland Prairie. These flowers, from wild onion, foxglove and indian blanket to purple coneflower and pink thistle, have provided a much needed respite from the worldwide health crisis and civil unrest that 2020 brings. I picked and scanned some of them directly from life while I drew and hand painted others.
